About the winemaker

Bodegas Terras Gauda’s main objective is to produce wines of the highest quality, with their own personality, from noble varieties grown in the ideal conditions and vinified according to the tradition of the area, processed with the most advanced technology and the utmost care. Bodegas Terras Gauda acquired in 2002 Viñedos y Bodegas Pittacum, in the Bierzo Designation of Origin, to produce quality reds from old vineyards of the autochthonous Mencía variety.

Notes

The wine spends 3 months fermenting in barrels.

It starts from small parcels of old centenary vineyards of Mencia, distributed on the slopes of the mountainous belt that makes up the Bierzo vitícola. Cooler clay soils grown on steep slopes facing east and north are the source of Petit. It is these places that accurately reflect the purest Atlantic style of the Region. The grapes ferment for 15 days at 25ºC, during this time they are pumped and slightly traced with the idea of making a selective extraction and preserving all their fruit. The wine then spends a short period of three months in the barrel.
